Frequently asked questions

An awning is a secondary covering attached to the exterior wall of a building. It is typically composed of canvas woven of acrylic, cotton or polyester yarn, or vinyl laminated to polyester fabric that is stretched tightly over a light structure of aluminum, iron or steel, and possibly wood. The configuration of this structure is something of a truss, space frame or planar frame.

A tensile structure is a construction of elements carrying only tension and no compression or bending. Tensile structures are the most common type of thin-shell structures. Most tensile structures are supported by some form of compression or bending elements, such as masts, compression rings or beams.

Normal delivery of our products can be between two to three weeks, however dependent on the size of the job and the choice of the fabric used, the time frame for manufacturing can vary.

Yes, after the customer makes an enquiry we set up a time to meet at their property, business or boat; during which we take measurements, explore fabric options and offer suggestions. After the initial meeting we provide an estimate. 3D Drawings can be requested at a small fee, which will be deducted from the cost of the final job

The location of an awning on a building may be above a window, a door, or over the area along a sidewalk. With the addition of columns, an awning becomes a canopy, which is able to extend further from a building, as in the case of an entrance to a hotel. Restaurants often use awnings broad enough to cover substantial outdoor areas for dining, parties, or receptions. In commercial buildings an awning is often painted with information including the name or contact information for the business, thus acting as a sign or billboard as well as providing shade, breaking strong winds and protecting from rain. Due to an awning being considered a removable structure, most people will choose an awning over a permanent structure due to town and country requirements.

All of the fabrics that we use come with a minimum five-year warranty, however with proper care and maintenance an awning will last for several years.

We have an extensive range of fabric choices and colours for you to choose from, however the style or design of awning will usually determine the fabric choice.
